John McAfee to Launch MacPool
Mar 10, 2017
John McAfee, CEO and Chairman of MGT Capital Investments, Inc. (MGTI), recently announced the scheduled launch of MGTI's Bitcoin Mining Pool for the second quarter of 2017.
The platform will be named MacPool, and will be hosted in the U.S. MGTI has been mining Bitcoin for the last several months. They recently announced a production rate of around 100
Bitcoins per month, where their equipment achieves a 5.0PH/s (petahash per second) rate.
In the last quarter of 2016 they recorded mining revenue of US$50,000. More
information is available in
their press release.
MGTI is focused on cybersecurity and applications using blockchain technology. The company trades over the counter (pink sheets) under the symbol MGTI.
It is a company name and ticker that has been around for a while, but is completely
starting over with McAfee at the helm. The SEC delisted MGTI from the NYSE,
claiming there was no business there; McAfee had some choice words for them. Trading in the security is quite
volatile, but could make for an interesting investment.
McAfee survived a drug raid, escaped Belize when being sought for questioning
about the murder of a neighbor, while on the run in Guatemala was caught for
entering illegally and was set to be deported back to Belize but escaped that
situation after faking a heart attack. MGTI should be an easy operation for him.
